The meaning of transshipment should not be confused with transit or multiple shipping: transshipment implies a physical change of vessel, even within the same transport contract. Types of transshipments:
These are mainly two types of transshipment between vessels to another and transfer cargo or containers to their final destination.
Direct Transshipment:
Goods move straight from one vessel or vehicle to another at a port or hub without unpacked, sorted or placed into temporary storage.
Indirect Transshipment:
In this type, when both vessels belong to the same shipping line the cargo, container or products are transferred from one vessel and temporarily will remain on port warehouses and storage space till to be loaded to another vessel, additionally, the cargo could be divided from one large ship or container to many other smaller shipments and ships. When both vessels belong to different shipping lines the cargo, container or products are cross-stuffed and re-exported to final destination.

Unloading from the vessel at the port of transshipment:
The cargo or containers are usually offloaded from the vessel at an intermediate port or transshipment hub, where it temporarily waits for the connecting vessel to continue its transportation journey.
Reloading to Vessel B:
